The rate at which most churches are demanding money these
days, you would think they work for the IRS. Some churches have made it a
priority to focus their preaching on money. They develop less content on
salvation and repentance. Rather what you hear all the time is give, give, give..... Their constant need to ask you for money is making even the givers in
church unease. Me personally, I like to give but the idea that money is taking
80% of church sermon is insane. Please don’t quote me wrong. There are some
churches out there that still focus on the message of Christ. I will not say
that I am naïve to the countless passages in the bible that stressed on the
importance of giving and sowing seed. But common! Like seriously, New generation churches
nowadays makes it look like you are going to hell if you don’t bring every
penny in your bank account and give them. Can I start by saying, that I am a
devoted Christian. I love my God and he loves me too. I enjoy the benefits that
comes with having God as my ultimate and first father. I equally enjoy the
blessed life I have as a result of giving. However, I will not lie to you that
most churches are derailing from the core foundation of Christianity.
Why do I say churches instead of pastors? Well! Pastors are
not the only significant persons behind the scene. I will leave that topic
there. Back to what I was saying, the way churches mount pressure on their
members for tithe, offering, and seed sowing is getting out of hand. I get it,
some people will be offended at this topic. But I am speaking your minds
really. Check this, not all members have money to give. In fact, 90% of church
goers come to church for one serious help or the other. So to think that at the
point of seeking assistant and refuge from church, they get lambasted for
money, how do you think they will feel about Christ? Besides, most of these
members do not understand why they should give money in church in the first. I
believe that, if people understand the word of God then they will be in a
better position to give. Also, I have carried
out a little survey on this matter and I realized that people are not
comfortable these days at church. In fact, my findings showed that people
prefer to stay at home and watch online service than to come to church. That’s
my friend is sad. The word of God says that “for where two or three are gathered
in my name, I am with them” (Mathew 18:20). So if people do not feel
comfortable in church, where will they feel comfortable? I leave that to you
all to answer.
(FYI, giving and tithing if you understand why you do, will
activate/positive you to a blessed life).
Thanks.
I am humble.
