True Life Story: This International Boy

Why American might be heaven to some people for others, it is far from it. I met this boy where i was helping my aunty with her business. His name i will keep a secret. Am happy he gave me the go ahead to share his story. When i met this boy three years ago, he told me his story. According to him, he got admission to study in a university in Kentucky State. When he got the news in Nigeria he was happy. His life was about to change so he thought. He sold the only land his family had and because he is the only son they let him.

However, he knew that the money he acquired from selling the land will not be enough to pay for his $10,000 tuition fee per semester. Luckily for him, the flight he boarded from Amsterdam to America became a flight of salvation. He met this white couple that took a liken to him in that little flight compartment. As a smart African boy, he quickly told them about his condition in the middle of their conversation. They were concern and to God be the glory they told him right there they will help him. But there was a catch. They told him that they will pay his whole tuition fees in school if he could pay off his first semester. That sounds amazing isn't it? What a miracle. Yes he was glad but deep down he knew he didn't have enough money for his first semester's tuition and feeding. Yet that gave him hope.

When he got to Kentucky, he told his family to run around and raise money for his first year in college. While in the middle of settling his life and self in Kentucky, his uncle from California that never called nor cared for his welfare while he was in Africa called him. Perhaps, he got the news about his coming to American from his family. Nevertheless, His uncle called and told him that he will help him. His uncle convinced him to move to California. According to him, the uncle said  Kentucky is sort of bushy. "I am here and i will get you the best and affordable school in California". Well, he was helpless. He didn't know what to do and because he was starving and lost in thought. He accepted the uncle's offer. Mind you the wonderful couple he met on the flight were contacted to let them in about his situation.

Well if there is something i learned from being in this country that would be, if an American promise you something with a condition. you must met that condition before they can fulfill their promise. Long story short, he moved to California. When he got there. He was jobless and idle for the period of one month. Everyday he kept reminding the uncle about his promise. Meanwhile, the Kentucky school has resume and began classes. He said whenever he brings up the issue about going back to the school, his uncle will yell at him and make him feel ungrateful and selfish for staying in his house and eating his food. Six months after living with his uncle and washing dishes at a nearby pizza shop without pay just to eliminate boredom. He ran out of his uncle's house. Stay tune next time to find out what happen to this boy. The story get's better
